ECEn 313 Electronic Circuits 1


This course teaches the basic concepts of communication circuits including amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM), and phase modulation (PM). Both modulation circuits and detection circuits, including the phase-locked loop (PLL) are considered.

High power amplifiers that can deliver hundreds of watts of power are also covered. This includes class A, B, C, and D (pulse-width modulation) stages.

Additional topics include resonant circuits and oscillator design.


Five or six lab projects will be undertaken during the semester to solidify the concepts taught in the lecture. The lab is an open lab, but a lab TA will be available during posted hours of the week.
